About Moveandstay

Moveandstay is a directory, not a booking site. Each property has a page with what it is, where it is, what it costs where the operator has published a rate, and how to reach the people who run it.

The distinction matters for what happens next. There is no basket, no checkout and no confirmation number here — a page ends with the property's own contact details, and the conversation continues between you and them.

Someone moving to a new city for three months is served badly by both ends of the market. Hotel sites price a long stay as a very long short stay. Residential rental sites want a year's lease, a local guarantor and furniture. The serviced middle — furnished, flexible, monthly — is real and large, and it is scattered across operator websites that are hard to find and harder to compare.

The same is true of workspace. A serviced office or a coworking desk for a team that has just arrived is not something a general search reliably surfaces, because the operators are local and the listings are not aggregated anywhere.

Moveandstay collects that middle in one place and makes it comparable: the same fields, the same layout, city by city, so the question becomes "which of these" rather than "where do I even look".

Moveandstay listed properties globally early in its life, then narrowed to Asia-Pacific for years, so that the coverage in each city was worth something rather than thin everywhere.

Today the directory is worldwide again — the same categories in any city with a real market for them — and Asia-Pacific is still where it is strongest, because that is where it has been working the longest.

Coverage is worldwide, and it is deliberately uneven. Asia-Pacific is where the directory is deepest — Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City and the cities around them — because that is where it has been working the longest. Elsewhere a city is added when it has a real market for a furnished flat or a private office, not because it has visitors.

Right now the directory holds 2,540 published properties across 295 cities in 29 countries and territories. Those numbers are read from the directory itself each time this page is rebuilt, not typed in by hand.

Property pages come from two places. Most begin as research: we compile what an operator has published about a property and give it a page, which is why a property can already be on Moveandstay before anyone there has heard of us. The rest are pages an operator has created or taken over, and those are maintained by the operator.

Browsing is free and needs no account. Filtering by city, property type, budget, capacity and length of stay is free too. Nothing about a search result is an advertisement a property has bought — see the note on Premium below for the one thing that money does change.

Visitors contact properties directly. Moveandstay is not a booking engine, takes no commission on a stay and adds no booking fee.

An enquiry through a property page goes to the property. We keep a copy so we can tell whether the enquiry was answered and follow up if it was not, and so the directory can be measured — but we are not standing between the two of you, and there is no fee at any point for a visitor.

The concierge works the other way round for people who would rather not send the same message twenty times: describe the stay once, and we contact matching properties and come back with the ones that have availability and the people to speak to.

An operator can claim the page for a property they manage. Claiming is free, and a claimed page is managed by the operator rather than by us.

Verification is about proving the connection between a person and a property, not about vetting the property. Where we hold a contact address for a property already, we send a claim link to that address and the link itself is the proof — it is specific to one property and one recipient, expires, and can only be used once. Where no such address exists, the public claim route asks for more, because we did not start the conversation and cannot assume who is on the other end.

A property that is already legitimately claimed is never reassigned to someone else just because a second claim arrives. Once claimed, the operator controls the description, the photos, the rates and where enquiries are sent — a corrected page is the point of claiming.

Premium is a paid upgrade for operators who want earlier access to the enquiries the directory produces. It changes nothing about what a visitor pays.

The journal covers cities, neighbourhoods and the practicalities of moving — the things you need alongside an address, like which district suits which kind of stay and what a lease actually commits you to.

Articles are drafted from our own directory data and from published sources, and are reviewed by a person before publication. Where an article recommends a property or an area it is because of what the data shows, not because anyone paid for the mention: editorial placement is not for sale, and Premium buys no coverage in the journal.
